Please join us to hear the US Military Service Academies Student Panel discussion. Graduates from Boerne and Champion High Schools have been invited back to participate on this panel. The discussion will focus on why they chose a military service academy and what they have experienced to date. The discussion will be moderated by the Fair Oaks Ranch Mayor Pro-Tem, Laura Koerner [USNA Class of ‘97].

Highlights of Laura Koerner’s Military Service:
After graduating from the Naval Academy, Laura served in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare (Nuclear) Officer. During her naval career, Laura served onboard USS MAHAN (DDG 72) as the Tomahawk Strike Officer, completed Naval Nuclear Power School, and served onboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) as the Assistant Damage Control Assistant and Propulsion Plant Watch Officer (Nuclear), where she stood watch over the ship’s nuclear reactors.
In June 2018, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Laura Koerner to serve as one of five Commissioners on the Texas Veterans Commission, where she advocates for Texas Veterans and the benefits they earned for their service in our nation’s armed forces.
Laura is also a local Blue and Gold Officer for the United States Naval Academy, where she counsels, recruits, and interviews local candidates on behalf of the Admissions Department.
